SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- San Francisco is the place to be for the BTS fanbase. Starting on Saturday, BTS Army members will be able to see RM's personal art collection at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. And KRON4 was one for the first to see inside "RM X SFMOMA: Between You and Me." On Tues day, RM and SFMOMA curators spoke to a small amount of press. Kim Namjoon, or RM, said, "I never imagined a day like this would come." It all started when curator América Castillo reached out to RM while he was serving in the Korean army in 2024. RM said he loved the idea when the museum reached out. Since then, it's been nearly two years of constant communication and collaboation. RM and the curators have chosen 178 works to showcase to the public, nearly 150 of them from RM's personal collection. A lot of the exhibit showcases works by modern and contemporary Korean artists. RM said when choosing which art to showcase there were two questions he considered. Does it move him? The other was in 2026, does this artist and work have something to tell us? RM said, "In an age where everything is consumed so fast, I believe the attitudes of some of the past artists can resonate even more deeply today." "Between You and Me" is broken up into eight sections: Blue Water, Friendscape, Home, Photo Buddha, People, Passion, I don't know why but I like it, and Umber. RM said, "Sometimes I don't really know why I collected all these things, so I just named one of the sections 'I don't know why but I like it.' That's my honest feeling." He said it's one of his favorite sections. "I always feel my own limits. Sometimes I feel incredibly proud of myself and incredibly embarrassed by myself. In the end I realize I can't really be anything but myself," said RM. He said this exhibit reflects and represents himself, "This is the introduction of me." RM said, "There aren't many things that show a person more honestly than a collection they've built over a long period of time." When asked what he wants people to takeaway RM said, "I hope the people figure out how fun and joyful it is to see an exhibition." The exhibit features an audio tour narrated by RM himself. In it he says since this is, "... about my personal things- so I prefer to be called as Namjoon. Or you can call me Joon, like, if it's too long." It's a very personal tour, as he walks you through different pieces and what each section means to him. During the press conference RM emphasized how he's not from the art world. And the exhibit reflected that in the best way. Sometimes exhibits can be cold, but not this one. It was a warm hug from Namjoon. He wanted to showcase the works in an unconventional way, and it worked. RM said, "Art and music, their language and medium might be slightly different but they're the same because they both try to say something." On Thursday and Friday, members of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art will be able to see a preview of "Between You and Me."
