Park City police officers reported a series of cases related to traffic or parking issues in the Main Street core in the middle of September. The cases did not appear serious, but they seem to highlight that the street remained busy in the weeks after the traditional summer tourism season ended. The police regularly log a range of cases on Main Street or nearby streets involving suspected traffic violations or parking issues. Public police logs do not often provide information about whether someone received a warning or a ticket, but officers are believed to issue warnings unless the suspected offense is deemed serious or the person is a repeat offender. Some of the recent cases included: On Saturday, Sept. 19 at 6:01 p.m., a vehicle, described as a box truck, was reported to have been left in a drop-and-load zone on Main Street for an hour or longer. On Sept. 19 at 5:44 p.m., an officer stopped a driver in the area of the intersection of Main Street and Heber Avenue, indicating the vehicle had a blue light of a rideshare firm “that was visible from in front of the vehicle.” The officer provided educational information about the blue light. On Sept. 19 at 5:42 p.m., an officer found a vehicle parked in a prohibited area, with a red curb, near the intersection of Main Street and Heber Avenue. The vehicle had flashers activated, but the officer “turned on my emergency lights behind it,” and the vehicle moved, according to public police logs. On Friday, Sept. 18, at 11:13 p.m., an officer pulled over a driver outside a Main Street nightclub after the person stopped in the road to allow rideshare customers to get into the vehicle. Public police logs indicated “it was reasonable to pull to the side of the road” at the time. On Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 9:30 p.m., an officer stopped a vehicle on Main Street and assisted the driver in turning on the headlights. The police logged the case as a motorist assist rather than a suspected criminal matter. On Sept. 16 at 7:22 p.m., an officer pulled over a driver in the area of the Old Town transit center, describing a “blue light visible from the front of the vehicle” as the car drove on Swede Alley. On Sept. 16, at 5:11 p.m., a vehicle was not moving with the hazard lights activated in the area of Main Street and 4th Street. Public police logs indicated that parking is prohibited in the location. The officer activated the emergency lights, and the driver moved, the police said.
