Wildaliz Bermudez wound up beating Leland Moore 908 to 787 — or 54 percent to 46 percent — in Tuesday’s Democratic primary for an open east-side state rep seat. On the west side of town, Eli Sabin secured 1,265 votes (44 percent) to incumbent State Rep. Pat Dillon’s 1,018 (36 percent ) and fellow challenger Justin Farmer’s 570 (20 percent). Those numbers are included in the final, official Aug. 11 Democratic primary election results, as sent out by Democratic Registrar of Voters Shannel Evans on Thursday. While registered Democrats in the 92nd and 97th Districts were able to vote in contested state rep primaries, the only citywide race was for governor. Two-term incumbent Gov. Ned Lamont won 4,768 votes (59 percent) to Hamden State Rep. Josh Elliott’s 3,315 (41 percent.) Statewide, Lamont beat Elliott by 68 percent to 32 percent. Turnout in New Haven was 21.45 percent, with 8,278 of 38,594 eligible Democratic voters casting ballots. A total of 6,657 votes were cast at the polls on Tuesday, 970 votes were cast early, 649 votes were cast absentee, and two were cast overseas. While Elliott lost New Haven overall, he did beat Lamont in five wards: Downtown/Yale’s Ward 1, East Rock/Downtown’s Ward 7, Wooster Square’s Ward 8, and East Rock’s Wards 9 and 10.
