An online community survey remains open through Aug. 20, with feedback incorporated into candidate evaluation criteria.
The New Orleans Recreation Development Commission is seeking public input as it searches for its next CEO, with feedback from residents set to play a role in evaluating candidates for the position.
NORD will hold a community stakeholder meeting Aug. 19 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Milne Recreation Center, 5420 Franklin Ave. Coaches, volunteers and other community members are invited to discuss the agency’s programs, parks and facilities, as well as priorities for its next leader.
AmCorp International, an executive search firm hired by the NORD Foundation to assist with the search, will facilitate the meeting. Members of the NORD Commission, NORD Foundation and city representatives will attend as listeners.
“NORD belongs to the people of New Orleans, so it’s important that the community has a voice in selecting the person who will lead the organization,” NORD Commission Chair Kyle Walker said. “The Commission wants to hear directly from the people who use NORD parks, participate in programs and support the agency about what they need and expect from the next CEO. That input will play a direct role in how candidates are evaluated.”
Feedback collected during the outreach process will be incorporated into the criteria and scoring system used to evaluate CEO candidates, according to NORD.
The agency also plans to hold two in-person stakeholder meetings for NORD employees Aug. 20.
Residents who cannot attend the community meeting can provide feedback through an online survey that will remain open through Aug. 20. The survey asks participants about NORD’s programs and parks and the qualities and priorities they want to see in the agency’s next CEO.
The outreach is part of NORD’s ongoing process to select new leadership for the city’s public recreation system.
