In an update posted online Tuesday, the Nebraska Departme nt of Corrections said about 300 inmates were evacuated from a housing unit, when a gas line was struck on Monday night. Black Hills Energy capped the gas line and Lincoln Fire and Rescue cleared the unit after about 2 hours, around 8pm Monday. Black Hills was working much of the day Tuesday to fix the gas line, as contractors work to expose pipes for water line repair.
