Flood Watch is in place starting until 8pm Thursday   A few scattered downpours could arrive just before 9 p.m., but the more widespread and heavier rain is expected to move in overnight. The biggest concern with this system isn’t just the heavy rain it’s the fact that several round s of rain could move over the same communities. When storms repeatedly track over the same areas, rainfall totals can add up quickly, increasing the risk for localized flash flooding. Thursday: Impact Day Thursday is shaping up to be the wettest day of the forecast. Periods of heavy rain will continue through the morning commute and into the midday hours. At times, rainfall could be torrential, making it difficult driving conditions and allowing water to quickly collect on roads, especially in low-lying and poor-drainage areas. Some neighborhoods could experience localized flash flooding . Most areas will pick up 1-3″ with isolated areas picking up near 5″ of rain. Friday: Lingering showers and storms A few leftover showers or an isolated thunderstorm will stick around early in the day, but many communities will see improving conditions by the afternoon. Daytime highs return to the upper 70s, a noticeable difference in our temperatures. Looking Ahead to the Weekend The weekend isn’t expected to be a washout, but don’t leave the umbrella too far away. Saturday will bring a mix of sunshine and clouds with warm, humid conditions returning. As we heat up during the afternoon, a few scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop. Not everyone will see rain. Sunday follows a very similar pattern. We’ll start the day dry with plenty of warm summer weather, then a few pop-up afternoon and evening thunderstorms will develop as daytime heating kicks in. These will be the typical summertime storms with brief, locally heavy, and capable of producing lightning and gusty winds before quickly moving away. Overall, the weekend still looks favorable for outdoor plans.  ...read more read less
