SEPTA, Transit Police reach tentative agreement, preventing possible strike

SEPTA has averted the possibility of a Transit Police strike with the tentative agreement on a new contract for Transit Police officers.
On Wednesday, June 17, 2026, SEPTA and the Fraternal Order of Transit Police (FOTP) Lodge #109 announced the tentative agreement. The FOTP’s previous c
ontract expired on March 31, 2026.
According to SEPTA officials, the tentative agreement will move to FOTP members for an approval vote, followed by the SEPTA board.
“We have been committed to negotiating in good faith to reach an agreement that is fair to the hardworking men and women of the SEPTA Transit Police Department,” said Transit Officer and FOTP Lodge #109 President Omari J. Bervine.
Serious crime – which includes aggravated assaults and robberies – is at its lowest level in more than a decade because of the work of Transit Police officers, according to SEPTA.
“The safety and security of our riders and employees is SEPTA’s top priority, and that starts with the hard work of our Transit Police officers,” said SEPTA General Manager Sauer.
