Feldman’s Bagels Closes Abruptly in Burlington and St. Albans
Jun 18, 2026
Two local bagel shops shut their doors on Thursday with no prior notice. Both the Burlington and St. Albans locations of Feldman’s Bagels are now permanently closed.
At Pine Street in Burlington, the original location of what became four local shops, a sign on the door scrawled in red marker s
aid, “I’m sorry but Feldmans has gone out of bussiness [sic].”
A brief announcement on social media confirmed: “Sorry to announce with a heavy heart. Feldmans Bagels will be closing its doors effective immediately. We would like to thank our loyal customers.” The post specified that the closure was for Burlington and St. Albans.
Father-daughter team Roy and Maddy Feldman first opened the New York-style bagel shop at 660 Pine Street in Burlington in 2013. Bob Leonard purchased the business in 2017, opened in St. Albans the following year, and then expanded to Shelburne and Enosburg Falls. The Shelburne and Enosburg Falls locations later shuttered.
Leonard could not immediately be reached for comment. He also owned Williston and St. Albans franchises of national chain restaurant I Heart Mac Cheese — which shut down in 2024 — and Firehouse Subs, which replaced them. According to signs on the doors on Thursday, both Firehouse Subs spots are also permanently closed.
