Tim Akers, Parkite and founder of the digital marketing agency Akers Digital, was awarded the 2026 Outstanding Service Award at the Bicycle Leadership Conference Honors and BPSA Awards dinner. Akers was the first media and digital professional to receive the recognition, which he said highlight s the growing importance of digital strategy and e-commerce in the outdoor industry. The Outstanding Service Award recognizes individuals whose dedication and leadership have significantly advanced the bicycle industry. Akers was recognized for his agency’s work providing e-commerce solutions for major bike and outdoor brands, as well as for his volunteer work. Akers currently serves on three PeopleForBikes working groups and subcommittees, including the Membership Event Education and Marketing committee for the last seven years, helping start the Apparel Working Group and the BLC Content Committee.  He also serves as a business coach for the Waypoint Accelerator run by Mtn Biz Works in North Carolina. Akers also encourages volunteerism at Akers Digital, with employees serving on the board of the Outdoor Business Association of North Carolina. Additionally, as part of its 1% For The Planet pledge, Akers Digital seeks to support environmentally focused nonprofits through cash and in-kind contributions.  “I was completely surprised and deeply honored to be recognized,” said Akers. “To be up on that stage sharing the moment with so many great icons of the cycling industry was incredibly humbling.
