HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A certain furry internet sensation is drunk again this Valentine's season, but this time, he's drunk on love. That's according to new merchandise released ahead of Valentine's Day by Hanover County Animal Protection and Shelter, the latest in its "Trashed Panda" serie s inspired by a local raccoon celebrity who broke into and ransacked an Ashland ABC store late last year. In November 2025, officer Samantha Martin with the county's animal protection responded to an unusual call out of the Ashland ABC store. When she arrived, Martin found that a raccoon had broken into the store, ransacked several shelves, become intoxicated and then passed out in the bathroom. Residents flocked to the Ashland ABC store, Virginia ABC launched a campaign in his honor and Hanover County has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars in “Trashed Panda” T-shirt sales. This Valentine's season, Hanover officials once again partnered with Bonfire and launched the "Love Drunk Raccoon" limited edition merch. Proceeds from the sales will go toward strengthening the county's training and care for the animals. "Buy the shirt. Support the cause. Impress your Valentine," Hanover officials wrote on social media. "Love Drunk" hoodies are priced at $41.99 and T-shirts start at $27.99. The merch can be purchased at Bonfire’s website. ...read more read less
