Lincoln Police Cruiser (Jeff Motz/KFOR News)LINCOLN–(KFOR Jan. 14)–An update was provided Wednesday from Lincoln Police and their role into a federal warrant issued at a north Lincoln home late Tuesday afternoon.  Assistant LPD Chief Jason Stille said officers originally made contact with fede ral agents around 1 p.m. Tuesday after a two-vehicle crash involving a federal vehicle.  Stille said the incident opened up a line of communication between the agencies, and at 4:30 p.m., he was notified that protesters were gathering around the area of 32nd and Orchard streets while Homeland Security led an operation to serve a federal warrant at a multi-unit residence.  LPD was there to keep the peace, and while no citations were issued, Stille says the actions of the protesters endangered themselves, the law enforcement officers and the person being arrested.  Stille called the behavior of most of those who gathered “appalling.” He adds generally, he’s proud of Lincolnites coming together.
