RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A Virginia Democratic Party official accused of distributing child sexual abuse material (CSAM) pleaded not guilty on Monday in federal court. That official, 30-year-old Randon Sprinkle, entered his plea during an arraignment at the Richmond federal courthouse. He is charge d with one count of distributing CSAM. According to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Sprinkle allegedly messaged an undercover FBI agent on the online dating app Jack’d under the alias “Randy.” Federal officials allege that Sprinkle sent a video depicting two adults sexually abusing a child. He is also accused of expressing an interest in traveling to Washington, D.C., to meet another user and sexually abuse that person’s son. FBI agents executed a search warrant at Sprinkle’s Richmond home on Oct. 16, 2025, seizing three electronic devices. Authorities said a cellphone contained 42 alleged CSAM files and a laptop contained two additional files. U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan called the allegations “deeply disturbing” and said they reflect “a serious abuse of trust.” Sprinkle was elected this year to the Metro Richmond Young Democrats executive board, according to the Virginia Public Access Project (VPAP). During the hearing, the judge raised questions about Halligan’s appointment as U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. Because Halligan signed off on Sprinkle’s indictment, the judge noted it was unclear how that might affect the case moving forward. Sprinkle’s attorney, Javiontè Johnson, told 8News that, for now, it does not change anything on his end. Sprinkle has requested a trial by jury. The trial is scheduled to begin at 9:15 a.m. on March 16 and is expected to last three days. ...read more read less
