(KRON) — An armed felon who successfully outran police during previous attempts to arrest him was tased and arrested by the Santa Rosa Police Department Friday. Officers were patrolling a homeless camp along the Prince Memorial Greenway around 8:10 p.m. when they came across 52-year-old Santa Ros a man Robert Penister. Officers knew Penister had a felony warrant for his arrest for violating the terms of his supervised release. “Penister had previously fled from officers during prior attempts to arrest him,” Santa Rosa PD said. “When officers attempted to take Penister into custody, he attempted to flee once again. Officers pursued him on foot and apprehended him a short distance away. Police are investigating how he illegally obtained the gun as a convicted felon.
