Armed felon tased, arrested after running from police numerous times: PD

(KRON) — An armed felon who successfully outran police during previous attempts to arrest him was tased and arrested by the Santa Rosa Police Department Friday.
Officers were patrolling a homeless camp along the Prince Memorial Greenway around 8:10 p.m. when they came across 52-year-old Santa Ros
a man Robert Penister. Officers knew Penister had a felony warrant for his arrest for violating the terms of his supervised release.
“Penister had previously fled from officers during prior attempts to arrest him,” Santa Rosa PD said. “When officers attempted to take Penister into custody, he attempted to flee once again. Officers pursued him on foot and apprehended him a short distance away. During the arrest, Penister resisted, and officers deployed a Taser device to safely subdue him.”

Residents complain of ‘loud’ PGE generators after SF power outage
During his arrest, officers allegedly found Penister in possession of a loaded .22-caliber Ruger Mark II handgun. Police are investigating how he illegally obtained the gun as a convicted felon.
Penister was taken to the hospital for treatment and booked into the Sonoma County Jail for the following charges:
Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a loaded firearm not the registered owner
Possession of ammunition by a convicted felon
Resisting arrest by force
Outstanding Postrelease Community Supervision Warrant

Penister is being held on $750,000 bail.
