A Salem woman is accused of manslaughter and driving under the influence after crashing a vehicle on Northeast Lancaster Drive early Saturday morning, killing her passenger.
The crash occurred around 1:43 a.m. Saturday in the 1800 block of Lancaster Drive, just north of Northeast Market Street. A
vehicle traveling northbound rear-ended a tow truck stopped on the right-hand shoulder of the street, Salem police said Saturday.
Police arrested the driver, identified as Karlie Dolan, 33. She was transported to the hospital for evaluation.
The passenger in Dolan’s vehicle, identified as Trisha Hopkins, 51, of Salem, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary tests showed Dolan’s blood alcohol content was more than three times the legal limit, police said. She was lodged at the Marion County Jail as of Saturday afternoon on suspicion of second-degree manslaughter, driving under the influence, reckless endangerment and reckless driving.
