A construction project on I-76 West, also known as the Schuylkill Expressway, between 30th Street and the I-676 interchanges will lead to lane reductions and closures until June. According to PennDOT, the plans are part of its larger Market Street Bridge construction project and will last from D ec. 7, 2025, until June 1, 2026. Between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. on Sunday through Thursday, the roadway will be closed, PennDOT said. Additionally, the roadway will be reduced to one lane from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday through Thursday. The overnight closures will not occur on Friday and Saturdays, as well as between Dec. 21, 2025 through Jan. 3, 2026. The overall $148 million Market Street Bridge construction project, which partially demolish and replace the Market Street Bridge, according to PennDOT. Construction will pause from June 1 to Aug. 7, 2026, to keep the roadway open for Philly’s 250 anniversary.
