(KRON) – Philanthropist MacKenzie Scott has donated $50 million to a university in the East Bay. Cal State East Bay announced the record-breaking donation – the single largest in the university’s history – on Thursday, calling it a “historic milestone.” Cal State East Bay, the first Bay Area university to receive funds from Scott, deemed the donation a “transformative investment in its mission to advance student success and regional impact.” Cal State East Bay President Cathy Sandeen said she was “speechless,” over the donation.
