RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Richmond SPCA hosted its 28th annual Fur Ball on Saturday evening to raise funds for veterinary care for sick and injured pets. The Fur Ball brought people and pets to the Jefferson Hotel on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 5:30 p.m. The black-tie event featured a parade of pets, raf fle and auction, with proceeds set to support the SPCA's Cinderella Fund, which provides veterinary care for animals. "We take care of about 4,000 homeless animals every year, 80% of whom require more extensive medical attention beyond spaying and neutering and microchipping," Richmond SPCA CEO Tamsen Kingry said. "In order for us to do that wonderful work, we rely on the generous support of our community." The Richmond SPCA operates a veterinary hospital, pet training classes and adoption center that has helped thousands of pets find homes.
