(KRON) -- A Fairfield family is mourning the loss of a husband and father who was killed in a motorcycle crash while on his way to work last month.
Henry Moore was riding his motorcycle to the Chevron Refinery in the early morning hours of Oct. 29 when he crashed on an Interstate 80 on-ramp, accord
ing to the California Highway Patrol.
Moore was entering westbound I-80 from Manuel Campos Parkway when he failed to negotiate a curve on the on-ramp and crashed, CHP said. Investigators cited speed as a factor in the crash.
His wife, Renee Moore, told KRON4 that she is still struggling to process the sudden loss.
"I'm heartbroken, and sometimes I feel a little lost," Renee said.
Henry was a hardworking man with a big heart and a free spirit, she said. Above all, he loved being a father to their three children, ages 3 to 11.
"He was a very hardworking man. He had a free spirit and a very big heart. He loved being a father," she said.
The crash happened just one day before their daughter's birthday, making an already difficult time even harder for the family.
Renee said the children are still trying to understand and cope with their father's death.
"Some days they're crying, and some days they're just trying to keep busy and keep their minds occupied," she said.
She also shared that Henry had been working hard to turn his life around and was approaching two years of sobriety.
Although he had years of experience riding motorcycles, he purchased his own bike in June. Renee said he also spent thousands of dollars on protective riding equipment.
Despite those precautions, she is left with questions about what happened in the moments leading up to the crash.
"I do have a lot of questions about what actually happened and led to my husband's death," she said.
Renee hopes anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has additional information will come forward to help the family get answers.
A GoFundMe has also been established to help the family with funeral expenses.
"We're just trying to go day by day, and hopefully we find some closure," Renee said.
CHP said the crash remains under investigation.
