PRO Skijor has announced an expanded 2027 Frontier Tour, growing the professional skijoring series to seven stops across the West and adding new events in Denver, Colorado and Lake Tahoe, Nevada, as well as returning to Soldier Hollow in Midway Feb. 26-28. Each stop will feature racing, live mus ic, local food, vendors, with the 2027 season culminating at the Frontier Tour Championship in Lake Tahoe March 5-7. Skijoring pairs a horse and rider with a skier racing behind them at high speed through a snow-packed course of gates, jumps, rings and obstacles. It is part equestrian competition and part action sport. “The 2027 Frontier Tour represents the next chapter for PRO Skijor — bringing more communities, competitors and fans together around a sport that captures the speed, grit and spirit of the West,” said Brian Gardner, co-founder of PRO Skijor. “As we grow, our priority is to deliver a world-class competition while honoring the traditions and people who have made skijoring what it is.” Greg Lipstone, co-founder of PRO Skijor, said skijoring has “everything you want in a great spectator sport.” “Speed, risk, incredible athletes, powerful horses and an atmosphere you simply can’t recreate anywhere else,” Lipstone said. “What we’re building is a professional platform worthy of the sport while protecting the authenticity and Western roots that make it so special.” The 2027 Frontier Tour schedule: Jan. 22–24: Bozeman, Montana, at Anderson Arena at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds  Jan. 29–31: Boise/Nampa, Idaho, at Ford Idaho Center Feb. 9: Salt Lake City, Exhibition at Winter Roundup in Partnership with Visit Salt Lake Feb. 19–21: Denver, Colorado, at Bally’s Arapahoe Horse Park Feb. 26–28: Midway at Soldier Hollow Nordic Center March 5–7: Lake Tahoe, Nevada, Championship weekend at Caesars Republic  At every stop, fairgrounds and arenas will be transformed into purpose-built snow courses where horse-and-skier teams race against the clock.  Competitors must navigate gates, collect rings, clear jumps and maintain control at speeds where fractions of a second can separate the podium from the rest of the field, organizers said. Each Frontier Tour stop will also feature a full-day winter experience with live music, local food, vendors, Western and ski-inspired style, and family entertainment. “The Frontier Tour is about much more than what happens on the course,” said Chris Castallo, co-founder of PRO Skijor. “It’s the horse culture, the ski culture, the music, the food, the style and the community all coming together around something you don’t see anywhere else. Expanding into Denver and Lake Tahoe gives us a chance to introduce that experience to entirely new audiences.” Tickets and event information are available at PROSkijor.com.  The post Skijoring returns to Soldier Hollow in February appeared first on Park Record. ...read more read less
