Nov 03, 2026
Preliminary general election results are in for Wasatch County, with Republican candidate Jeremy Hales leading the vote for sheriff.
Hales, Wasatch County’s emergency management director, was running against unaffiliated candidate Paul Moore.
Hales earned 6,398 votes, or nearly 69%, whi
le Moore earned 2,907 votes, or just over 31%, by 9 p.m. on Tuesday. Throughout his campaign, Hales promised transparency and accountability in the Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office.
“I just want to tell every single voter in Wasatch County thank you very much for trusting me to run and be your sheriff,” Hales said. “We’re going to do everything we can to provide the highest level of public safety with our partners in the Wasatch Back.”
County attorney
Republican Jon Woodard, a current deputy Wasatch County attorney, appears to have secured the role of Wasatch County attorney over Democrat Lauren Forsyth. Woodard earned 5,200 votes, or 54%, while Forsyth garnered just under 4,500 ballots in her favor as of Tuesday evening.
County Council Seat A
Republican Rachel Kahler, with 5,365 votes, or 55%, appears to have secured Wasatch County Council at-large Seat A. Kahler, a former Heber City Council member, ran against Democrat Robert McNeill and write-in candidates Shawn Taylor and Jami Hewlett.
McNeill trailed with 3,321 votes, or just under 35%.
Write-in candidates were not identified by name but earned just under 10% of the vote.
County Council Seat C
Rowland appears to have earned enough votes for reelection. He received 1,264 ballots in his favor, or 77.5% of the vote as of Tuesday evening. Rowland was running against write-in candidate Alex Folmer.
County Council Seat F
In a tight race, Michael Murphy, a Republican serving as the interim councilor for Seat F, received 1,194 votes, or 52%, as of Tuesday evening. Joseph Tugaw, Murphy’s Democratic challenger, earned 1,083 votes.
Clerk-auditor
Kellogg seemingly won the clerk-auditor’s race after becoming the only candidate to advance to the general election ballot. Kellogg earned 100% of the vote with 7,398 ballots and ran unopposed. She succeeded over incumbent Clerk-Auditor Joey Granger in June’s primary election.
The results are preliminary and include all in-person voting and ballots received by the clerk as of Tuesday morning. Formal results remain pending certification. There are several tight races anticipated countywide, and additional updates will come later this week.
