Another Ada County Highway District election is in the books, with voters making their selections for two highway district commission seats.Incumbent Miranda Gold won reelection to represent subdistrict 3, prevailing over challenger Sean Sundwall, preliminary election results showed on Tuesday night . With 97% of precincts reporting, Gold led with 61.9% of the vote, or 98,125 votes to Sundwall’s 38.1%, or 60,329 votes.“I’m deeply grateful to the voters of Ada County for making their voices clear that we’re headed in the right direction,” Gold told BoiseDev via text late Tuesday night. “We’ve got more work to do and I’m looking forward to building on this momentum.”In the packed field for subdistrict 4, preliminary results showed Marisa Keith winning out over several other candidates, garnering 46.6% of the vote, or 69,279 votes.“I am excited to represent Ada County residents on their priorities,” Keith told BoiseDev via text Tuesday night. “I look forward to tackling initiatives that focus on safety for all users of the road. The county has plenty of challenges ahead with balancing growth and rising costs, but I am ready to take on that challenge.”Keith was trailed by Greg Ferch (17.2%, 25,564 votes), Chris Campbell (16.8%, 24,993 votes), David Case, (13.2%, 19,682 votes) and Joel Meusch (6.2%, 9,179 votes). The results follow the Idaho Legislature’s passage of a law earlier this year allowing voters from anywhere in the county to cast their vote for a candidate in any subdistrict up for election, as BoiseDev reported. Prior to the change, voters could only vote for candidates running for office in the subdistrict in which the voter resided. Candidates for each subdistrict must reside in that subdistrict.ACHD was not made aware that the new law applied to this year’s election until mid-September, as BoiseDev reported. Another part of the law making the races partisan will take effect in 2028. ...read more read less
