Golden State Valkyries players took time Monday to reflect on capturing the franchise’s first WNBA title in just its second season of existence. Despite ongoing celebrations since winning it all Saturday night in San Francisco, most of the players said the gravity of capturing the WNBA crown st ill hasn’t soaked in just yet, except for Finals MVP Gabby Williams. “I was in bed by midnight after the game,” she said. “I just wanted to be with my friends and family. I mean, the game was early, so we did party. It’s been very calm. I’ve just had a moment to kind of soak it in. I didn’t have any expectations, but if I did, I thought it would just be party and whirlwind and energy. I found a very, I don’t know, just like serenity in everything that I’ve just loved.” Valkyries fans will have the chance to celebrate the team during Wednesday’s championship parade in San Francisco. “I’m expecting them to show up, show out,” center Kiah Stokes said. “I want it to be Halloween again, like come in the costumes. I just want it to be a big party. Just enjoy the moment. Let’s celebrate. Let’s have some fun. This is insane. I just want to feel the same energy that we have in ‘Ballhalla.’ I want to feel that at the parade.” Golden State Valkyries Nov 1 Golden State Valkyries championship parade: Route map and how to watch Golden State Valkyries 6 hours ago ‘Just overwhelming': Gabby Williams' childhood coach on Valkyries' historic win Golden State Valkyries Nov 1 ‘Closer' Gabby Williams validates Joe Lacob's hype in Valkyries' WNBA title win ...read more read less
