Gynecologist accused of sexually assaulting patients during appointments
Nov 02, 2026
A South Jersey gynecologist who specializes in fertility treatment has been charged with sexually assaulting three patients during appointments at his Mount Laurel office.
Jerome Check, 80, of Melrose Park, Pennsylvania, faces three counts of second-degree sexual assault after investigators said
he assaulted three patients while alone with them in an examination room between December 2024 and March 2025.
Two of the patients believed their appointments would be informational and did not expect to undergo invasive exams until Check, a reproductive endocrinologist and infertility specialist, told them the exams were necessary.
Check was taken into custody in September and later released following a court appearance in Mount Holly.
Investigators are looking for additional possible victims.
Check’s practice was affiliated with Cooper Norcross Health, who provided NBC10 the following statement:
“Dr. Jerome Check is not employed by Cooper Norcross Health. After today’s announcement, all his affiliations at Cooper Norcross Health have been suspended effective immediately.”
Anyone with information is asked to call the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office at 609-265-5035 and ask for a detective in the Special Victims Unit.
Resources for victims of sexual assault are available through the National Sexual Violence Resources Center and the National Sexual Assault Telephone Hotline at 800-656-4673.
