One of our own

As we approach Election Day, the race for Utah House District 4 is a toss-up, according to Utah Political Report. Summit County has a real opportunity to elect one of its own to represent our community.
With stark differences in views on the role of government, public education and economic sec
urity, the choice is clear.
Incumbent Tiara Auxier, a Morgan County resident appointed by the Republican Party to fill a vacancy, says the government should stay out of deeply personal decisions. Yet her record tells a different story. She supports book bans and requiring Bible passages in public school instruction, and voted to prohibit gender-affirming care for minors, even with parental approval, and eliminate such care for state employees and their dependents.
She also voted for H.B. 267, which stripped public employees — including teachers, police officers and firefighters, of collective bargaining rights. More than 320,000 Utahns signed a petition to force a referendum, ultimately leading to the law’s repeal.
Zane Woolstenhulme offers a very different approach. In his own words, “Public education is what I have devoted my life to. And it faces many challenges, not the least of which are politicians who claim to know more about education and health than our professionals. This will always be one of my top priorities.”
With 40 years of experience in public finance and education administration, he understands both the value of public education and the responsibility of managing taxpayer dollars. He advocates for living wages and affordable housing, not just tax cuts, to help families make ends meet. He recognizes the importance of protecting open space, and wants future generations to be able to live, work and thrive in our community.
Zane’s support crosses party lines because he leads with common sense, experience and respect for people with differing views. Supported by Democrats, Republicans and independents, he represents the kind of thoughtful, collaborative public service we need.
At a time when politics too often divides us, Zane offers a refreshing alternative: experienced, thoughtful leadership grounded in respect, common sense and a genuine commitment to our community. That’s the kind of representation Summit County deserves.
