BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — The No. 4 Indiana Hoosiers are breathing a massive sigh of relief after surviving a potential upset against Minnesota Saturday. The 23-16 overtime win marks the 29th consecutive victory against an unranked team — the longest streak in the country. After a low-scoring b attle, the two teams made back-to-back 60-yard field goals with less than 20 seconds remaining in the game to force overtime. Hoosiers senior kicker Paddy McAteer drilled his attempt as time expired after replacing fellow senior kicker Nico Radicic – who missed twice during the game. In the very first play of overtime, Hoosiers backup quarterback Grant Wilson found receiver Charlie Becker for the 25-yard touchdown, which ultimately was the game-winner. Wilson replaced an injured and struggling Josh Hoover after the Hoosiers trailed by 3 at halftime. The Hoosiers defense then kept the Gophers out of the endzone to secure their seventh win of the season. Becker led the IU offense with eight catches for 149 yards and a touchdown. He also helped set up the game-tying field goal at the end of regulation with an incredible catch on the sideline. Running back Lee Beebe Jr. also helped the effort with 84 yards off 15 carries. After playing in the first half, Hoover left the game completing 8-of-19 passes for 119 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Wilson finished 9-of-17 for 156 yards and one touchdown. The Hoosiers now get a week off before hosting 6-2 USC on Saturday, Nov. 14. ...read more read less
