Marcus’ 4 a.m. Friday forecast
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — After a warm stretch this week, we’re seeing a slight cooldown today as a cold front has pushed through the state. Enjoy the sunshine, because clouds increase this weekend and rain returns Saturday night into Sunday. Next week looks wet a
nd mild with several rain chances.
TODAY (Friday):
We’re tracking high pressure overhead, which means mostly sunny skies and pleasant October weather. It’ll feel cooler than recent days with highs in the upper 60s to around 70 degrees. This is still a good 10° above average.
TONIGHT:
Clear to partly cloudy skies with high clouds starting to stream in from the west late tonight.
SATURDAY:
High clouds will continue to increase through the day, making for a partly to mostly cloudy sky. Despite the clouds, we’ll stay dry thanks to high pressure still in control. Temperatures similar to Friday.
SATURDAY NIGHT INTO SUNDAY:
A warm front will lift north from southern Illinois and western Kentucky Saturday night, bringing widespread showers to Central Indiana. A few spotty showers will be possible for the early to mid evening hours, but should be a widespread issue for trick-or-treat hours.
Sunday will be a cloudy, damp, and cool day with highs only in the lower 60s. Not a great day for outdoor plans.
MONDAY:
We’ll start the workweek on a wet note. The best rain chance is Monday morning as moisture lingers from Sunday’s system. Showers should taper off through the afternoon as drier air works in. Mild temperatures continue with highs above normal.
TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY:
A strong weather system will approach from the plains, keeping rain chances in the forecast Tuesday through Thursday. Waves of moisture will stream north from the Gulf, meaning occasional showers and possibly some heavier rainfall at times.
Temperatures will stay mild, warmer than normal for late October, thanks to that southerly flow bringing in Gulf moisture. But it won’t be as warm as this past week.
