SUMTER, S.C. (WOLO)– Sumter Police say an investigation into a motel fire has led to the arrest of a man. On Friday, Oct. 23, a travel trailer caught fire at the America Inn on Broad Street. After the fire was extinguished, arson investigators with the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office began inve stigating the circumstances surrounding the fire, says the sheriff’s office. As a result of the investigation, Desmond Montez Jackson, 35, was arrested and charged with second-degree arson and first-degree burglary.
