Ohio's Democratic candidates for Congress and governor rallied voters at Cincinnati's Woodward Theater days before voters either send them into the highest offices of power or send them home.Gubernatorial candidate Dr. Amy Acton took the stage in the wake of a controversial ad released by Republican opponent Vivek Ramaswamy featuring Acton's long-estranged mother.Acton addressed it right off the bat."Over the last week, we've been going through an adventure here we're going through, and your love and support has meant the world to us. Thank you," she said.WATCH: Ohio's Democratic candidates make final push for Cincinnati votes days from election Democrats Acton and Brown rally in Cincinnati days from general electionThe ad features Acton's mother, who Acton said she hasn't talked to in 50 years, since she lost custody of her two kids over sexual abuse allegations against her then-husband.Through chants of "shame" from the crowd, Acton continued."My opponent has intentionally chosen to use my childhood as a weapon against me to save his struggling campaign, but Mr. Ramaswamy, it's not going to work," Acton said.Much of her speech focused on the issues voter Bonnie Dunkelman told us were most important to her: prices."Groceries are out of hand, and gas prices are out of hand, and people are hurting," Dunkelman said. From the podium, Acton made a pledge."This is my promise to Ohio. We're going to make it all cost less," she said.Former U.S. Sen. Obama returned to Cleveland to rally support for Brown in his bid to return to the U.S. Senate against Husted and Acton in her gubernatorial bid against Ramaswamy.During the Cleveland rally, Obama told the crowd that this election reminds him of his own."When you have been campaigning as long as I have been campaigning and when you work as many elections as I have you can tell when an election comes along that just feels a little bit different," Obama said. "An election where people are so ready for something new, so hungry for something better, so sick and tired of being sick and tired that everywhere you go it feels like change is in the air."Also on Wednesday, President Donald Trump stopped in Chillicothe to rally support for the state's GOP candidates. The visit to Ohio University's Chillicothe campus marked the president's third visit to the Buckeye State this month. ...read more read less
