Chesterfield gas station reportedly pumps water into tanks, costing hundreds in repairs for drivers
She said it wasn't until she was scrolling on Facebook and saw a post warning drivers not to get gas from the Exxon connected to a Thrift Mart on Boydton Plank Road in Dinwiddie. Hoveland says she immediately knew that was the same gas station she visited the afternoon of Oct. 18.
Hoveland said she had to pay nearly $1,000 for a tow, a rental car and repairs. The testing she received from the mechanic confirmed issues with her fuel.
“I definitely think there's a lot of people out there that have cars messed up that don't even know," Hoveland said.

The Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services confirmed an investigator visited the station and stopped the sale of fuel at six pumps.
The state's investigation is ongoing and it will determine what was in the tank and how the bad batch was delivered.
Store management showed 8News pumps 7 through 12 that were tagged by VDACS, warning drivers that they are out of order. Impacted customers would have bought gas at these pumps from 2 p.m. on Oct. 18 through 11 a.m. on Oct. 19.

Impacted customers are asked to keep their purchase and repair receipts and take that documentation to the gas station so that management can share it with their insurance company.
