Fired Press Secretary Shares Her ‘Favorite’ Trump Moment, But Critics Zoom In and Can’t Get Past the Embarrassing Detail Sitting Right in Front of Her
Oct 28, 2026
Donald Trump might want to reconsider who gets to choose his flattering photographs, especially when the person behind the tribute is Katie Zacharia, the press secretary he fired less than two weeks ago.
Apparently, losing her White House job hasn’t dampened Zacharia’s admiration for her form
er boss.
She’s still working overtime to prove her loyalty. Unfortunately, her latest tribute has critics wondering whether she is helping Trump or humiliating him.

The 80-year-old president has spent months watching critics dissect his appearance.
From his expanding waistline to his awkward public outings, almost nothing escapes scrutiny.

Now, a former member of his inner circle has given those critics another reason to laugh.
And the woman responsible apparently thinks she did him a favor.
Zacharia’s spectacular five-day stint as White House press secretary ended almost as quickly as it began. But she is still singing Trump’s praises. Her latest attempt to celebrate him has people questioning whether she knows what makes a flattering photograph.
“Thank you, @dougmillsnyt, for capturing one of my favorite moments with the best president in history,” Zacharia wrote on X.
The photograph, taken by New York Times photographer Doug Mills, shows Trump aboard Marine One during a visit to Wasilla, Alaska.
Zacharia and Trump aide Natalie Harp are practically glowing, with both women appearing delighted to share the moment with the president.
Trump, however, looks considerably less enthusiastic. He appears hunched over and squeezed into his seat. His expression suggests he would rather be anywhere else. The contrast is almost comical.
While the two blondes beam at their boss, Trump looks uncomfortable. The image hardly matches Zacharia’s glowing description.
Social media users wasted little time reminding her that Trump had just fired her.
“Easy to ID a favorite moment when you only have 5 days to choose from,” one person joked.
Another couldn’t believe Zacharia thought the image deserved celebrating.
“Oh gurl…it’s such an ironic, sad photo. It actually makes me sad that the world sees it and you can’t,” the person wrote. A third asked, “Was this your 16th minute on the job? About 48 before you were fired?”
“Why would you think that? Look at his chair and how tight you are” one person added. Another said, “He fired you.”
“He is not the best president in history and you make a fool of yourself every time you repeat it,” one wrote.
The photograph also revived scrutiny surrounding another bizarre Marine One image.
That picture showed Trump occupying an enormous gray chair. It featured thick armrests and the presidential seal stitched into its headrest.
Despite the generous dimensions, Trump appeared to fill much of the available space.
But Trump’s chair wasn’t the only thing attracting attention.
Viewers also noticed the unusual positioning of two blonde aides seated nearby. Their legs appeared tangled together inside the cramped cabin. A mysterious pair of red pants added to the confusion. Those belonged to White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.
For Zacharia, however, the biggest problem wasn’t the seating arrangement.
It was the timing.
Trump appointed the Pepperdine law graduate to replace Karoline Leavitt on Oct. 9. Four days later, her first White House briefing became a public relations nightmare.
She lasted roughly 14 minutes at the podium. She took questions from only three outlets before abruptly ending the session.
Then came questions about her legal credentials.
Trump had introduced Zacharia as an attorney. However, she later acknowledged that she had failed the California bar exam and never retook it.
By Oct. 16, her brief tenure as press secretary was over.
Trump revisited the embarrassing episode during an Oct. 23 rally in Fort Myers, Florida.
“She was a perfect, beautiful woman when she walked into that press room and they started screaming at her, she freaked out,” he told the crowd.
He portrayed her as overwhelmed by hostile reporters. Critics saw a president publicly discussing the downfall of someone he had just hired.
His former spokeswoman apparently didn’t get the message.
Since her dismissal, Zacharia has continued posting affectionate tributes to Trump. The one post not about the president was a shared photograph with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr.
“You can either be a fighter or a marshmallow,” she declared.
That attempt at sounding tough also backfired. Now, her latest tribute has become another punchline.
Zacharia may believe the photograph captures a treasured moment with America’s “greatest” president. Critics see a fired spokeswoman still trying to impress the man who dismissed her.
Worse, she’s giving his detractors fresh ammunition.
For someone who briefly held one of the country’s most important communications jobs, knowing when not to post a photograph might have been a useful skill.
