CONCORD, Calif. (KRON) -- Some Concord restaurants are asking customers not to abandon them after a weekend crash shut down their indoor dining rooms.
Concord police say shortly after 2 p.m. on Saturday, a driver crashed his vehicle through the front window of Chicken Time and Kabob Craze restau
rants on Meadow Lane in Concord.
Police say the driver was later arrested for suspected DUI.
“The car jumped up and down, and then it hit the curb and this curb, and just flew in my store, said restaurant owner Fraidoon Jamshed. “I had seven, eight people sitting there, and I was behind the counter. And thank God that it's miraculous nobody got hurt. It was a miracle."

Surveillance footage captures a pickup truck crashing into Chicken Time and Kabob Craze in Concord on Saturday, Oct. 24.
Jamshed says there was no time to react.
“He was going maybe 70 to 80 miles an hour... His foot was still on the gas, and we had to open the car and remove his foot from the gas,” Jamshed said.
Unfortunately, the driver took down a 16 by 16 concrete pillar which supports the roof. As a result, until that structural damage is repaired, the City of Concord has closed the dining room, not just for Chicken Time and Kabob Craze but also Little Thai House, which shares the seating.
Fortunately, the kitchen for all three restaurants is in another part of the shopping complex and remains open.”
“We're still open for takeout and DoorDash delivery, but the dining room is closed,” Jamshed said.
Jamshed says it could be months before repairs are completed. He says now more than ever he is hopeful customers will stick with them and start ordering takeout until the dining room is able to reopen.
