ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 19-year-old Chesterfield County woman is dead and a Canadian man is facing charges after a late-night crash in Albemarle County. The crash took place at about 11:25 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 26 along Interstate 64 West at mile marker 108, near Route 250, per Virginia St ate Police (VSP). Investigators believe a Ford passenger vehicle was disabled in the right lane after hitting a deer. A Honda passenger vehicle, driven by 19-year-old Alyssa Williams of Chesterfield, stopped behind the Ford. According to state police, the Honda was then hit by a tractor-trailer driven by 34-year-old Sikander Signh of the Laval area of Quebec, a province in Canada. Both the Honda and the tractor-trailer were forced from the roadway by the impact. They entered the right shoulder before coming to a stop in the nearby ditch. Williams was ejected from her vehicle. She died at the scene. Singh was also hurt, but VSP did not specify the severity of his injuries. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment. The driver of the disabled Ford was not hurt. Singh has since been charged with reckless driving. No additional information is available as of the time of reporting. State police continue to investigate this crash. This is the first of two deadly crashes that took place in this area of I-64 within just a few hours of each other. The second crash, which happened just before 1 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 27, resulted in the death of 58-year-old Sally Tripp of Augusta County. This is a developing story.
