Will the brooms be broken out in the 2026 World Series?
The Milwaukee Brewers, the No. 1 overall seed in the MLB playoffs, swept the two-time defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers to win their first-ever National League pennant. And now Milwaukee is on the cusp of sweeping the American League’
s top-seeded Tampa Bay Rays for their first World Series championship.
The Brewers have taken a commanding 3-0 lead over the Rays, with a chance to close out the Fall Classic in Game 4 Tuesday.
The heavyweight World Series showdown between two title-less franchises saw the first two games in Milwaukee each decided by one run. The Brewers held on for a 3-2 Game 1 win before overcoming an early four-run deficit in a 5-4 Game 2 victory. The Game 2 triumph was Milwaukee’s seventh comeback win this postseason.
There wasn’t nearly as much drama in Game 3, as the Brewers rolled to a 10-1 rout at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. The blowout victory was powered by a fifth inning where Milwaukee put up eight runs all with two outs.
