Jordan Gets Real About Lessons Learned from Break Up with Lori Harvey, Refuses to Give ‘Energy’ to the Past According to reports, Alex Perez, 23, arrived at the set of “Miami Vice ’85” around 11 p.m. ET on Oct. 23 carrying a weapon. TMZ reported that the man threatened a production staffer while wielding a butcher’s knife that he removed from his sweatshirt pocket.  In footage obtained by the outlet, a hooded individual is seen being tackled in the middle of the street. A sizable crowd of bystanders watched the incident play out. Several people surrounded the suspect before a New York police officer approached him. Someone in the clip could be heard yelling, “He’s got a knife!” As tension mounted, the uniformed officer repeatedly shouted, “Get on the ground!” Perez was eventually detained and handcuffed. The confrontation threatened to escalate as another man repeatedly shouted at Perez during the exchange. Perez had reportedly directed a racial slur at a member of the production crew. The two-minute edited video ends with Perez being taken into custody. Authorities charged him with menacing with a weapon and criminal possession of a weapon.  Perez had been arrested five times before. Those prior criminal charges included gang-related activities, assault with a firearm, and burglary. As of this writing, it is not clear whether Jordan or Butler were on set at the time of the arrest. No injuries were reported by the NYPD.  News of a blade-brandishing perpetrator invading the “Miami Vice ’85” production spread across the internet. A mixture of fright and ridicule filled social media comment sections. “OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!” exclaimed an Instagram user in reaction to the potentially deadly disruption. Another person on the platform wrote, “Hope no one was hurt.” Another troubled commenter wondered, “What about the security for actors [on] the set?” Plus, an astounded poster just stated, “Mannn, violent times.”   “Hey, this is scary,” wrote a person on Instagram. A similar comment read, “Absolutely crazy. We need the revenue generated from filming.” While the ordeal prompted concern from fans, trolls also took advantage of the terrifying scenario by offering sarcastic one-liners. One person noticed, “Dude startin buckin AFTER he was cuffed.” The wisecracks about Perez wanting to be a background actor in the film extended to Threads. One jokester quipped, “Bro wanted to be an extra,” while another said, “He wanted to be one of the punks who ran up on Tubbs while he was in the car!” Concerned fans wondered, “Is Michael okay?” while praising security for asking fast. “Big Security should just be quiet be lucky he ain’t get hurt. He did his job to detain him and that was all that was needed,” said one observer. Despite filming in advance, “Miami Vice ’85” is not scheduled to premiere until May 2028. The film reimagines the classic crime drama “Miami Vice,” which aired on NBC from 1984 to 1989. The original series starred Philip Michael Thomas as Tubbs and Don Johnson as Crockett. Michael Mann directed the first “Miami Vice” theatrical film in 2006, starring Jamie Foxx as Tubbs and Colin Farrell as Crockett. “Miami Vice ’85” also features Alden Ehrenreich, Whitney Peak, Camila Morrone, Danny Ramirez, John Leguizamo, Andrew Schulz and Edi Gathegi. Variety reports ‘’85” was “inspired by the pilot episode and first season of the landmark television series that influenced culture and set the style of everything from fashion to filmmaking.”  Jordan also plays a significant role in creating another forthcoming movie reboot. The Newark native is directing and acting in an updated interpretation of “The Thomas Crown Affair.” The romantic heist film is scheduled to hit theaters on March 5, 2027. Norman Jewison directed the original “The Thomas Crown Affair,” released in 1968 and starring Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway. The film was remade in 1999, starring Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo.
