NEWBURGH, Ind. — A southern Indiana park that opened Friday was built for $13 million, including $3 million from a statewide development program led by the Indiana Economic Development Corp.
Gov. Mike Braun cut the ribbon on the 18-acre Ohio Township Park located north of Newburgh. The proj
ect was funded in part through the Indiana Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative. Dozens of children and local officials joined the governor at the morning event.
“Through READI, Indiana is accelerating region-driven strategies that are making Hoosier communities destinations where people want to live, work and play,” the Republican governor said in a statement. “This new, transformational park adds to Warrick County’s offerings for residents while creating a draw for visitors and the surrounding region.”
The park features a playground; a splash pad; outdoor fitness stations; pickleball, basketball and sand volleyball courts; and biking and running trails. The region used $3 million in READI funding to support a pavilion and picnic and shelter areas.
Construction on the park started in 2024. The park is located about a half-mile northeast of the Newburgh Walmart and sits alongside the Ohio Township Fire Station and Community Center. The park offers connections to the Warrick Wellness Trail east of I-69.
Indiana’s READI program is a $1.25 billion investment in regional strategies designed to strengthen communities, retain and attract top talent, and increase opportunities for Hoosiers.
Newburgh, a Warrick County town of 3,442 residents, sits on the Ohio River east of the city of Evansville.
