PONCHATOULA mdash; Two people were arrested after a two-year-old died from ingesting kratom, the Ponchatoula Police Department said.Officials said that they began investigating the death of the two-year-old on Aug. 24, where they interviewed Brooke Harter, the mother, and her boyfriend Dominick Cen ni.The autopsy report concluded that the two-year-old juvenile's cause of death was the toxic effects of kratom, the police department said.Cinni and Harter were booked for negligent homicide, cruelty to juveniles and criminal abandonment.The Louisiana Department of Health issued an emergency rule on Monday adding substances commonly found in kratom to Schedule I.Permalink| Comments ...read more read less
