Drivers traveling through downtown Dallas this weekend should make plans in advance, as major delays and weekend-long lane closures are expected to begin Saturday night on parts of Interstate 30. The closures are part of the $888 million I-30 Canyon Project, which will reconstruct and improve th e corridor between the Interstate 35E and Interstate 45 interchange. The project broke ground in March and is expected to finish by 2031. All east and westbound lanes of I-30 — between I-35E and the I-45, U.S. Highway 75 interchange — will be closed from 10 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday. The Texas Department of Transportation will place a detour directing motorists to State Highway 366 and Woodall Rodgers Freeway as an alternate east-west route. However, commuters should still be prepared for congestion and increased travel times. TxDOT recommends drivers avoid unnecessary travel in the area if possible.
