Christian Theological seminary celebration INDIANAPOLIS — Christian Theological Seminary is celebrating a major milestone this month, marking 10 years of its Faith in Action Project with a free public event centered entirely on empowering the next generation. Lindsay Nell Rabinovich, directo r of the Faith in Action Project, joined Daybreak Saturday morning to discuss the upcoming anniversary event, which takes place Oct. 27 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. For a decade, the initiative has hosted annual gatherings that bring in national thought leaders and run a robust grants program to support organizations doing impactful work across Indianapolis. But as Rabinovich explained, years of listening to community partners revealed a powerful underlying truth about what truly drives change. “One of the themes that has resonated is that programs are really critical, but it’s relationships that drive transformation; it’s relationships that are really changing lives,” Rabinovich said. “We wanted to really bring about a conversation of how we can see and support young people and how relationships can create opportunity.” The upcoming event features a headline conversation with New York Times best-selling author Jason Reynolds, whose resonant stories explore the realities young people navigate every day. Ahmed Young will moderate the discussion, which aims to challenge adults to show up differently and offer lasting support. The focus on youth comes at a critical time for Marion County families facing mounting economic pressures. According to data highlighted during the discussion, 38% of households with children in the county are experiencing poverty or belong to the ALICE population, representing working families who are just one financial crisis away from poverty. Families facing such hardship often have limited access to social capital, making caring adult mentors more vital than ever. “We really need more caring adults who are willing to be that bridge, who not only provide hope and support as they navigate barriers, but also connect them to networks, resources, and opportunities so that they have a chance to thrive,” Rabinovich said. Organizers emphasize that the event is designed for anyone invested in building a stronger Indianapolis, whether they work directly in youth services, volunteer, mentor, or simply want to support local community change. In addition to the keynote conversation with Reynolds, attendees will have the opportunity to connect with roughly 15 local youth-serving organizations. These community partners, many supported by CTS grants, work around the clock to provide resources and hope for young people. Guests will leave with practical action steps, a deeper understanding of how to make young people feel seen and valued, and direct connections to grassroots organizations making a difference day in and day out. The Faith in Action 10th anniversary event is free and open to the public, though registration is required. The gathering takes place Oct. 27 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.  ...read more read less
