I am sickened by the number of bears that have been euthanized this year in Utah. I understand that people and their safety is a priority. The bears are not coming into our populous areas for fun. They are hungry due to the climate conditions, last winter and the past spring not being condu cive for food production in the high country. Seems to me there always individuals who get themselves lost or in trouble in the high country, so it is accessible. Maybe some of the roadkill could be transported to these places and left as bear food and the area posted as off limits to people. I can see a number of what ifs associated with a plan like this, but what if it could be done? Save some bears and possibly pets or people.
