ISC Game of the Week 10-15-26
INDIANAPOLIS— Lawrence Central and Carmel will meet in WISH-TV’s high school football Game of the Week as the teams wrap up the regular season.
Carmel enters the matchup at 4-4, while Lawrence Central is 3-5. Despite the Greyhounds’ record, Greg Rakestraw of
the ISC Sports Network said on Daybreak that Carmel has faced one of the state’s toughest schedules.
Four of Carmel’s losses came against teams ranked in the top five in the state, including Westfield, Center Grove and Warren Central. The Greyhounds also lost to Lawrence North in a one-score game.
Carmel lost to Warren Central by 14 points last week. The Greyhounds also suffered one-score losses to Westfield and Center Grove earlier in the season.
One of the biggest questions heading into Friday’s game is who will start at quarterback for Carmel. Jackson Treadway was injured in the game against Warren Central, leaving his availability uncertain. Backup quarterback Chris Harris could step in if Treadway cannot play. Harris also starts at wide receiver for the Greyhounds.
“It’s a talented Carmel team,” Rakestraw said on Daybreak. “Don’t let the record fool you at 4-4. They’re one of the better teams in the state.”
Other games to watch
Several notable matchups are scheduled for the final week of the regular season.
Center Grove, which has finished its conference schedule, will face Bloomington South. The Panthers enter at 7-1 and are ranked No. 2 in Class 5A, giving them a significant test before the state tournament.
Rakestraw also highlighted the matchup between Cathedral and East Central. The teams have frequently met in the postseason over the years, helping establish the game as a regular-season matchup.
Meanwhile, Bishop Chatard will travel to Cincinnati to face Elder at The Pit, one of the Midwest’s best-known high school football venues.
The postseason begins next week for many teams, with some compelling first-round matchups already on the schedule.
WISH-TV’s Game of the Week next Friday will feature a matchup between defending state champions Cascade and South Putnam. South Putnam won the Class 1A championship last season, while Cascade claimed the Class 3A title. Both teams now compete in Class 2A.
According to Rakestraw on Daybreak, the game will be the first time in Indiana high school football state tournament history, dating to 1975, that two defending state champions have met in the opening round.
The Lawrence Central-Carmel game will air live on MyINDY-TV 23, beginning at 7 p.m. Highlights will follow on WISH-TV’s The Zone.
