Pilot Point ISD superintendent, police chief placed on paid administrative leave amid investigation
Oct 15, 2026
Pilot Point ISD’s superintendent and police chief have been placed on paid administrative leave following a complaint involving both officials, according to a letter sent to district families Wednesday evening.
In the letter, sent on Wednesday evening, the Pilot Point ISD Board of Trustees said
the decision was made out of an abundance of caution while an independent investigation is conducted.
“Administrative leave allows the investigation to be conducted with fidelity and protects the integrity of the process for everyone involved,” the board wrote.
The board emphasized that no findings have been made regarding the complaint and that placing the officials on leave is consistent with the district’s procedures for employees involved in complaints.
The district has retained attorney Scott Cummings to conduct an independent, third-party investigation into the allegations.
The board did not disclose the nature of the complaint, citing confidentiality surrounding personnel matters.
In the meantime, Dee Carter has been named acting chief of the district’s police department.
The board also authorized its legal counsel to negotiate with an identified individual to serve as acting superintendent. The district said it will announce that appointment once an agreement is reached.
“The Board is committed to ensuring this does not impact the operations of the District and its dedication to the continued success of its students, staff, and the community,” the letter stated.
It is unclear how long the investigation will take or when the superintendent and police chief could return to their positions.
The district said no additional information is available at this time.
