Animal sanctuary asks the public for help to fix damage after tropical cyclone
Oct 14, 2026
After receiving nearly three inches of rain courtesy of Tropical Cyclone Rachel, Alpine animal sanctuary Lions, Tigers Bears Wednesday asked for the public’s generosity to fix significant damage.
“After enduring extreme heat, our sanctuary was suddenly battered by severe rain, powerful winds
and flooding,” according to a statement from the sanctuary. “Mudslides swept into our Donor Services office. Floodwaters poured into our gift shop. Powerful winds brought down trees, destroying sections of fencing and leaving our team scrambling to protect the sanctuary.”
More than 65 rescued animals call the Alpine ranch home. The nonprofit facility was founded in 2002 on 142 acres and provides naturalistic habitats, on-site veterinary care and educational and volunteer programs.
According to the nonprofit, necessary repairs include flooring replacement in flood-damaged areas, potential structural repairs where water has compromised buildings, repair and replacement of damaged fencing and emergency cleanup, debris removal, and essential restoration supplies.
Donations directly support the animals and recovery efforts. Those who wish to contribute can visit lionstigersandbears.org.
