SAN JOSE, Calif. (KRON) -- A San José couple faces felony child neglect charges after their 8-year-old daughter, Aurora, died from an asthmatic attack inside a home with deplorable living conditions. Santa Clara County District Attorney Jeff Rosen announced the charges, stating that long-term expo sure to an unsanitary environment filled with bugs and rodents caused emotional and physical harm to the children. Rosen emphasized that the girl's death serves as an urgent warning and called for systemic changes within child protective services to prevent children from falling through the cracks. During court proceedings, a judge ordered both parents released but placed them under protective orders. The orders prohibit both parents from having any contact with six children currently in the custody of family members, as well as any other minors.
