An 18-year-old who was shot in Dallas in early October has died.
Dallas police responded to a call in the 8200 block of Walnut Hill Lane around 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 3.
Early in the investigation, police determined that 18-year-old Christopher Nevarez and a 15-year-old boy arrived at a hospital in
a private vehicle after being shot at a different location.
Nevarez had been shot in the neck and was listed in critical condition. The 15-year-old was shot in the hand, police say.
As the investigation continued, police determined that the 15-year-old shot Nevarez from behind while they were sitting in a car before shooting himself in the hand.
On Oct. 5, the Dallas Police Fugitive Unit arrested the juvenile on a warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Nevarez died on Oct. 7. Police said the charge in the case will be updated to manslaughter.
The juvenile suspect remains in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
