Oct 11, 2026
INDIANAPOLIS– A precautionary boil advisory has been issued Sunday for people in the area of 86th Street and Lafayette Road due to a broken water main, according to Citizens Energy Group.
Citizens Energy says that a break in the water main near 86th Street and Lafayette Road caused water p
ressure dropping below 20 pounds per square inch.
The following areas are affected:
Northern Bound: 96th Street (in Marion County) and E CR 750 S (in Boone County)
Southern Bound: 86th Street. The boil water advisory also includes the Walden Trace neighborhood and Fishback Creek Public Academy
Eastern Bound: Cooper Road in Marion County (CR 850 East in Boone County)
Western Bound: Lafayette Road in Marion County (Indianapolis Road in Boone County).
According to Citizens Energy, the boil advisory is out of an abundance of caution. They said in a release, “The water quality being produced by Citizens has remained safe during the event. However, the widespread loss of pressure has resulted in Citizens taking additional precautions to verify water quality in the distribution system was not adversely affected.”
Citizens Energy advises people in the affected areas to use either bottled or boiled water for drinking, brushing teeth, washing dishes, or food preparation until the precautionary advisory is lifted.
