One of the highlights of the Fleet Week in San Francisco are the U.S. Navy Blue Angels. The Blue Angels soared and roared over San Francisco Saturday – and this time, they were visible. The air show kicked off just after noon, bringing out aviation fans to watch the different aircraft soaring o verheard. This time, the conditions were better than Friday’s, when the cloudy skies cut the Blue Angels show short. “It’s amazing, we have been spellbound to watch and see how amazing it is what they do and how they do it, right?” Canada resident Lana said. “I have been looking at the weather and thinking what is the best day to go out, and today seemed like a good day,” San Francisco resident Allison said. Many hope the weather will cooperate again on Sunday. Marine Corps pilot Major Andrew Sanchez spoke with NBC Bay Area and shared some insight about his experience. “I fly the F-35B, which is a fifth-generation fighter aircraft flown primarily by the United States Marine Corps because I’m a Marine Corps pilot,” he said. “The thing that makes the F-35B unique, aside from being flown by the Marine Corps, is that and can really hover like a helicopter and it’s designed to land vertically on ships.” The Ship Tours had people lining up along the Embarcadero. One of those ships was the USS Ashland. Fleet Week festivities continue on Sunday. For more information, visit our Fleet Week guide. ...read more read less
