Authorities say a pair of juveniles have been identified as the likely suspects behind antisemitic images and writing found scrawled on the asphalt of Marin County's Brookside Elementary School last weekend. Police previously confirmed the matter was being investigated as a potential hate crime.Init ial reporting from NBC Bay Area notes that officers responded to a report about graffiti featuring antisemitic messages and images at the San Anselmo school a week ago. The Central Marin Police Authority stated that they photographed and documented evidence at the scene but were unable to remove the vandalism. Brookside Elementary subsequently got the area cleaned before classes resumed on Monday. At the time, police stated they had no suspects but confirmed that the crime likely took place between the end of school on Friday and the following evening. Now the Central Marin Police Authority say they've identified two possible suspects: a 12-year-old and a 13-year-old. As the Chronicle reports, police say they've gathered enough evidence to refer the case to the Marin County District Attorney's Office, where criminal charges for the juvenile pair will be considered. As a result of their ages, the identities of the suspects have not been released by authorities. Police additionally credited information provided by the public and the Ross Valley School District in assisting them with identifying the juveniles in question.Earlier this week, as ABC7 reports, dozens of students and their family members came together at Brookside for a community rally focused on hope and resilience in light of the incident: Related: Mayor Lurie Says Protesters Were Chanting ‘Tax the Jews,’ But It Was Just One Unassociated Lady Passing By ...read more read less
