Rabid bat found in home in Richmond’s East End

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A bat tested positive for rabies after it was found in a home in Richmond's Fairfield neighborhood, health officials said.
Richmond Animal Care Control (RACC) was notified on Sunday, Oct. 4 of a bat found inside a residence on N. 25th St., according to the Richmond City Hea
lth District. The bat was then collected and tested by RACC.
Anyone with information regarding exposures to the bat, including bites, scratches or contact with saliva by open wound or eyes, nose or mouth, should call the Richmond City Health District Environmental Health Office at 804-205-3912. For after-hours calls, contact RACC at 804-646-5573.
