Dallas-based Southwest Airlines operations were snarled Friday morning after a “brief interruption” with the Dallas carrier’s vendor Amadeus, the carrier told The Dallas Morning News in a statement. Southwest experienced delays at several airports on Friday after the carrier said it experience d an outage. Southwest partners with Amadeus for functions such as the airline’s reservation system, among other products.  Lauren Rounds, a spokesperson for the City of Dallas’ Department of Aviation, said that Love Field’s operations team was told by Southwest that the airline had been experiencing an intermittent internal network outage Friday morning, impacting boarding pass printing and mobile app scanning.” Nationwide, Southwest had delayed nearly 900 flights by 9:15 a.m., while canceling 43, according to flight tracking site FlightAware. However, operations at Love Field appeared to be less affected. In a statement to NBC 5 on Friday morning around 9:00 am, a Southwest spokesperson said: Southwest experienced a brief interruption due to a system outage at our vendor, Amadeus. The airline continued to check baggage and board flights manually while full functionality was restored. We apologize to our Customers for any inconvenience and are working to get them to their destinations as quickly as possible.
