Mid day Forecast 10-9-26 INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) The remnants of Hurricane Isaias are tracking northward, bringing scattered showers late Saturday night into Sunday. TODAY: Mostly sunny with a few high-level clouds drifting across northern counties. Highs in the lower 80s. Humidity i s going to bottom out this afternoon. We’re talking relative humidity in the teens to low 20 percent range. That’s tinder-dry. The good news? Winds will stay light, so we’re not looking at a Red Flag Warning scenario. But if you’ve got leaves, brush, or anything flammable, do not burn it today. Even a small spark can turn into a major problem with humidity this low. TONIGHT: Clear skies with lows in the low 50s. Light winds continue. SATURDAY: Filtered sunshine early, then increasing clouds late in the day. Highs near 78 degrees with southerly winds returning. Rain holds off until after dark. TRACKING TROPICAL REMNANTS: Here’s the latest on Hurricane Isaias. The remnants of Isaias are merging with a passing disturbance, and this combined system will bring scattered showers to Central Indiana late Saturday night into Sunday morning. What’s changed:Recent data shows a faster and more eastward track. The heaviest rain is now forecast to stay to our southeast, which means our rainfall totals have been adjusted downward. We’re now looking at scattered showers instead of widespread heavy rain. What to expect:Rain develops late Saturday night—likely after 10 p.m. Scattered showers continue Sunday morning, then taper off from west to east by Sunday afternoon. The impact:Sunday morning plans might need a backup option, but this won’t be a washout. Outdoor activities Sunday afternoon should be fine as clouds break and conditions improve. MONDAY TUESDAY: ONE LAST WARM-UP After the weekend rain clears out, we’re in for one last stretch of summer-like warmth. MONDAY:Mostly sunny and warm. This is the warmest day of the stretch, with afternoon highs potentially reaching the low 80s. Light southwest winds. Perfect weather to start the work week. TUESDAY:Partly cloudy with highs in the mid 70s. Still warm, but you’ll notice a shift in the wind as cooler air starts to approach from the west. Enjoy these two days—they’re the last 80-degree weather we’ll see for a while. What we’re watching:This system will bring a high probability of rain Wednesday into Thursday, followed by a sharp drop in temperatures. We’re talking a 15-20 degree temperature drop in less than 24 hours. The impact:By the end of next week, expect much cooler, fall-like conditions. Highs will drop into the 60s, and overnight lows could dip into the 40s for the first time this season. ...read more read less
